The art of fully immersing in a forest or shinrin yoku is much more than just walking around in a forest. This is a science that formed in the 80s of the XX century in Japan. The goal is to feel the forest with your five senses and relax.

This art is practice with the help of guides. Since 2008 all guides have been certified by the community for forest therapy in Japan. Currently, there are around 2 000 certified guides. They organize walks in forests, city parks, and botanical gardens.

Many people turn to nature for internal peace. Many prefer to go to the forests on Sunday instead of visiting a church.

With the pace more and more people are migrating to big cities practicing this will be getting harder.

Although this is considered the latest trend many nations have had their own rituals and words similar in meaning to shinrin yoku for centuries.

Full immersion in the forest.
