It is not a secret that sugar has a negative effect on our brains. But it is presented in large quantities in the diets of millions of people worldwide. It is clear that overeating of sugar leads to obesity and some severe diseases, but sugar also has some adverse effects on the brain.

Some studies link increased consumption of sugar to memory difficulties, sudden mood changes, and even depression.

Interestingly, overeating of sugar can lead to anxiety and sadness. We are used to considering the intake of sugar is leading to elevated mood, but studies suggest sugar has the opposite effect on people with diabetes or prediabetes.

Elevated blood sugar also leads to worse concentration, especially for kids.

No matter what, sugar is delicious. Even if we do not want it, sugar consumption is growing every year worldwide. It is recommended for people to consume no more than 6 to 9 spoons of sugar in deserts a day or 25 to 40 grams. Sadly statistics are showing the opposite.
